Karnataka Weather Alert: Will Bengaluru Rains Arrive Soon? Check Weather Forecast For Next Week
Bengaluru, known for its scorching heat in recent weeks, may soon experience a reprieve as the weather department predicts 'light to moderate' rainfall post-Ugadi.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted that scattered with very light to moderate rains associated with thunder activity likely over parts of both North and South interior districts and also over Coastal & Malnad districts from 09th to 13th April 2024.

Bengaluru Rains: Weather Forecast
The Met department has predicted a shift in weather patterns for Bengaluru, offering some respite from the scorching heat.
Rainfall: Scattered light to moderate rains with thunderstorms are likely across North and South Interior Karnataka, including Bengaluru and coastal & Malnad districts, from April 9th to 13th. A Prasad, a senior scientist at IMD Bengaluru, noted, "The rain may commence on Ugadi with light showers in isolated areas, progressing to moderate rainfall during the latter part of the festive week."
Start of showers: The wet spell might begin with light showers on Ugadi (April 8th) in some areas, progressing to moderate rains later in the festive week.
Distribution: The rain is expected to be uneven across the city, with some areas receiving more than others.
Temperatures: Despite the impending rains, the next three days are forecast to be extremely hot. The weather agency also predicted a slight increase in temperatures over the weekend as well.
While the coming days will be hot, Bengaluru residents can look forward to a change in weather with the arrival of the rains. This will help bring down temperatures and alleviate the discomfort caused by the heatwave.
Record-Breaking Heat:
Bengaluru registered a temperature of 37 degrees Celsius on Thursday, surpassing April's average by 3 degrees. Experts predict a slight increase in temperatures over the weekend. The Garden city has been experiencing unprecedented heat, with daytime temperatures reaching record highs. Even nights are unusually warm, with minimum temperatures exceeding normal ranges. This combination of scorching days and warm nights poses health risks for residents.
Bengaluru residents experience warmer nights
The IMD has confirmed a rise in nighttime minimum temperatures. IMD Bengaluru reported Monday and Tuesday as the warmest nights in the city over the past 12 years, recording temperatures of 24.5°C and 24.3°C, respectively. However, they haven't officially categorized the nights as "warmer" as per their protocol, which requires a specific temperature threshold to be met. Typically, Bengaluru enjoys cool summer nights, offering respite from the daytime heat. However, meteorologists and health experts express concern over the trend of warmer nights coupled with scorching daytime temperatures, as it poses health risks.
