Karnataka Weather Alert: Thunderstorms and Rain Expected in Four Districts, Including Kodagu
Several parts of Karnataka are expected to experience thunderstorms and rain in the coming hours, according to the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC). The weather department has predicted moderate rainfall in the southern interior regions, while coastal and Malnad districts may witness scattered drizzles. In contrast, dry weather is likely to prevail in the northern interior districts.
KSNDMC has issued a weather alert, warning that thunderstorms accompanied by rain are expected in certain parts of Kodagu over the next three hours. As of 4 PM on March 18, the agency has forecast moderate rainfall with thunderstorms in one or two locations in the districts of Dakshina Kannada, Kodagu, Chikkamagaluru, and Chamarajanagar.

Following the weather department's earlier forecast, parts of Mysuru, Kodagu, and Mandya experienced light showers on Sunday. Several areas in Chamarajanagar also received rainfall, with heavy showers reported for approximately 45 minutes in villages surrounding Gundlupet on Monday afternoon.
Meanwhile, Kerala has been witnessing intense rainfall and thunderstorms, disrupting daily life. In Malappuram, continuous rain has led to strong winds, causing coconut trees to fall on houses and resulting in significant damage.
Residents in affected areas are urged to remain vigilant and follow safety guidelines to avoid any untoward incidents.
