Karnataka Weather Alert Is The Monsoon Rains Weakening Over Bengaluru

Weekly Weather Forecast

Weather enthusiast Vijay, who tracks day-to-day swings of Karnataka weather on his page 'Namma Karnataka Weather,' provided a weekly forecast. He said,"Monday to Wednesday: There is an interplay between the Break Phase and Mild SWM Phase. Steering level windspeed ranges from 12 knots to 16 knots, which is not perfectly ideal for thunderstorm generation. In case thunderstorms form, they can be fast-moving. But the Cape and dew point-air temperature alignment is good. Let's see!"

The trough visible across the Arabian Sea and parts of Southern Maharashtra, North Karnataka, and Telangana ensures we are not in a full-fledged Break Phase. The associated convergence is building rain cloud bands across the Karnataka and Goa coastlines, but it is uncertain how far this can traverse inland. It may only provide light to moderate showers around 20-25 kilometers from the coast, with the Ghats not benefiting much.

Bengaluru weather forecast:

The absence of a shear zone will weaken the monsoon over Bengaluru and parts of North and South Interior Karnataka for the next few days, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The shear zone influences rainfall. A large number of saplings planted for World Environment Day are drying up as a result, with residents complaining that authorities have made no facilities to water them.

IMD official C.S. Patil said the average maximum and minimum temperatures in Bengaluru for the next two to three days will be a degree higher than in past weeks. The maximum temperature will be 31°C, and the minimum will be 21°C.

"Weakening of the moist south-westerly winds is temporary. Rainfall will increase in the coming week," Patil said. Light showers in isolated parts of Coastal Karnataka, North and South Interior Karnataka, including Bengaluru, are very likely until June 20. The light showers will be accompanied by gusty winds (30-40 km/h) at many isolated places across the state after June 20," Patil added.

Parts of coastal Karnataka, including Gokarna, received 2 cm of rainfall on Sunday, with 1 cm each in Shiroli and Mangaluru.
