Karnataka Weather Alert: IMD Issues Orange Alert for Multiple Districts, Cloudy Bengaluru On Yellow Alert
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has upgraded and issued an orange alert for North Interior Karnataka, while a yellow alert remains in place for Coastal and South Interior Karnataka districts including Bengaluru from April 1 to 4. It must be noted that Bengaluru woke up to cloudy skies and a pleasant breeze this morning, setting the stage for an impending wet spell.

Heavy Rain and Thunderstorms Expected
According to the latest IMD bulletin released on April 1, the state will witness cloudy weather accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds reaching speeds of 40-50 km/h during this period. Light to moderate rain is expected in parts of North Interior Karnataka, with heavy showers likely in some areas.
The IMD also predicted widespread moderate rainfall in the Southern Interior and Coastal Karnataka regions, with isolated heavy rain. Dry conditions are expected to return after this spell.
The sudden change in weather conditions is attributed to a depression over the Odisha coast, which may intensify into a cyclone.
