Karnataka Weather Alert: Cloudy Skies In Bengaluru, Rain Delayed Until Tonight, Check Forecast

Bengaluru residents woke up to a blanket of clouds on Monday morning, a stark contrast to the initial forecast of rain throughout the day. The weather forecast for the India's Silicon Valley has predicted has revised its prediction, pushing back the downpours. The rain may arrive under the cover of darkness. The city can expect good rainfall between 10 pm and 3 am tonight.

However, with heavy showers often come challenges like waterlogging and traffic jams, so residents should be prepared.

The persistent rainfall has disrupted daily life and raised concerns. A yellow alert has been issued across 13 districts, including Bengaluru, anticipating significant rainfall and storm conditions over the next six days.

Dr. N Puviarasan, an IMD scientist, explained, "A trough/wind discontinuity extends from Marathwada to the Comorin area across interior Karnataka and Kerala at an altitude of 0.9 km above mean sea level." This indicates that districts like Kodagu, Hassan, Shivamogga, and Mysuru should be prepared for gusty winds and heavy rain in the coming days.

Moderate rain is also expected in several other districts, including Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Belagavi, Vijayapura, Chikkaballapura, Dharwad, Bagalkot, Ballari, Gadag, Bengaluru Rural and Urban, Kolar, Chamarajanagar, Chikkamagaluru, Chitradurga, Mandya, Davangere, Tumakuru, Ramanagara, Vijayanagara, Haveri, Koppal, Bidar, Kalaburgi, Raichur, and Yadgir.

Bengaluru rains forecast:

Widespread thunderstorms and rains are likely over Coastal, Malenadu, North & South Interior Karnataka regions from 16th May, with heavy rains expected from 18th to 21st May.

Bengaluru is also set to witness #BengaluruRains during the period, with chances of heavy thunderstorms likely over the city between 17th May to 21st May. The city is expected to receive significant rainfall during this period.
