Karnataka: State run banks to remain shut on Thursday
This state holiday on Thursday is sure to deter banking for the common man who will have to wait for a day to get sums as low as Rs 4500 exchanged.
State run banks in Karnataka will remain closed on Thursday on account of Kanakadasa Jayanti. November 17, a gazetted holiday is likely to make things difficult for the common man who is standing in queue to get his currency exchanged.

For days together now citizens have been queuing up outside banks and ATMs to get both currency exchanged as well as withdraw money. Keeping in mind the situation, the central government had asked all banks to function full office hours over the weekend previously.
This state holiday on Thursday is sure to deter banking for the common man who will have to wait for a day to get sums as low as Rs 4500 exchanged. Worse is the fear of longer lines at ATMs and private sector banks owning to holiday issued to public sector bank staff.
The ATMs are expected to work as usual on Thursday. This is however subject to availability of cash.
