A tragic incident unfolded in Bengaluru, as a woman officer employed by the Karnataka government met a horrifying end in her own home on a fateful Saturday, 4th November night.

Pratima, aged 45, had just been dropped off by her driver after completing a day's work. Her residence, where she had lived for over eight years, became the scene of an unspeakable crime. The dreadful event occurred around 8:30 pm, at a time when her husband and son were away in Thirthahalli, a town located in the Shivamogga district.

It was Pratima's brother who made the gruesome discovery. He had tried reaching out to her the previous night, but all his attempts of trying to get in touch with her over the phone had gone unanswered. When he arrived at her home early on Sunday, 5th November morning, the horrifying truth revealed itself, prompting him to immediately alert the authorities.

Bengaluru City's DCP of the South Division, Rahul Kumar Shahapurwad, provided insight into the tragic incident. He explained, "As usual, around 8 pm on Saturday, Pratima returned home. As she did not respond to phone calls the previous night and this morning, her elder brother came to her house to check when he found out about her murder and informed the police", as quoted by PTI. The situation had clearly raised suspicions and sent shockwaves through the community.

The law enforcement agencies have since swung into action, deploying forensic and technical teams to the scene."Forensic and technical teams are at work on the spot. Three teams have been formed for investigation. We will be able to share further information, once we get to know exactly what happened", the DCP added further.

Karnataka's Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah, assured the public of a comprehensive investigation into the murder. He expressed his condolences, saying, "I just got to know about it. We will inquire into it. It seems that she was staying alone (in Bengaluru), while her husband was in his native village. The reason is not yet known, we will inquire into it."

The state government is committed to bringing those responsible for this heinous act to justice. The police have already registered a case and are diligently pursuing all leads, including the possibility of the assailant being someone known to the victim.
