Karnataka: Lokayukta Raids On Govt Officals, Seizes 1 KG Gold, 15 Lakh Cash From Davangere Officials' House

Lokayukta on Thursday carried out raids at 48 locations across Karnataka, probing charges of alleged corruption.

A former Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) engineer in Davangere, a constable in Bidar and a sub-district officer in Kodagu are among those who have been raided by the Lokayukta.

What The Authorities Have Found, So Far?

During the raids in Davangere, the authorities have found 1 kg gold and 15 lakh cash at K Mahesh, an engineer at the small irrigation department in Holalkere and former BBMP AEE H Bharati's house in Jayanagar, Lokayukta sources said.

The Lokayukta has also found some property documents related to the former BBMP AEE.

The Lokayukta also raided the residence of RFO Satish at Channagiri in the Davangere district.

RFO Satish Bhadravati is working as Zonal Forest Officer at Channagiri, Forest Department. He was recently transferred to Holalkere and had to report for duty in Holalkere today. It is reported that the authorities found cash, gold and documents related to the properties during the raid.

RFO Satish was identified in former MLA Madal Virupakshappa's close circle. Also, Madal Virupakshappa did not contest from Channagiri in the last assembly election. Instead, his son Madal Mallikarjun contested as an independent and lost.

Searches are ongoing in different parts of Mysore city and district. An audit search at Harangi Reservoir Superintendent Engineer's residence is being carried out, ANI reported.

The Lokayukta has conducted searches at the residence of a district collector in Priyapattana, Kodagu. Simultaneously, raids are being conducted at the residence of a Revenue inspector from Mahadevapura division in Banashankari, Bengaluru.

Another search operation is underway at the residence of an Assistant Commissioner of the Belgaum corporation in Dharwad. Officials are currently in the process of examining documents at his residence.

These officials are under investigation by the Lokayukta for alleged corruption, particularly regarding the accumulation of disproportionate assets.
