Karnataka: Local body election date announced, EVMs to be used in polling
Bengaluru, Aug 2: The State Election Commission has announced election date for 105 local bodies. For the first time EVMs will be used in the voting.

The voting will take place in two phases. The Election Commission will issue the notification on August 11. Twenty-nine Nagarasabhas, 53 Purasabhas and 23 Town Panchayats will go to polls.
The last date for filing of the nomination is August 17. Voting will be held on
August 29. Counting of votes will be held on September 1.
The upcoming elections will be challenging for the incumbent Congress-JDS alliance. Both the parties have not yet decided whether to have pre-poll alliance in the local body elections.
