A posthumous report later confirmed that he had tested positive for COVID-19, marking the third death linked to the virus in this recent outbreak.

In the past 24 hours, Karnataka has reported 114 new COVID-19 cases, increasing the total number of active cases to 367. Bengaluru, in particular, is witnessing a daily rise in infections, raising concerns over the silent spread of the virus in the city.

In response to the surge, the Union Health Department has issued an urgent circular mandating COVID-19 testing for individuals showing symptoms of Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI). The directive also requires that swab samples be sent to laboratories on the same day they are collected, to ensure prompt diagnosis and containment.

With the onset of the monsoon season and a drop in temperatures, health experts warn that the risk of infection may increase further. The reopening of schools has also raised concerns, and parents are advised to be vigilant to prevent the spread of the virus among children.

Health authorities continue to urge the public to follow COVID-appropriate behavior, including wearing masks in crowded places, maintaining hygiene, and seeking medical attention if symptoms develop.
