Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah Says His Govt Is Stable, Will Continue To Lead For 5 Years

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has made it clear that he will continue as CM for the full five-year term. He dismissed rumours about a possible leadership change, asking reporters, "Why do you have doubts? I will continue as Chief Minister." He also took a dig at the BJP and JD(S), saying, "Are they the Congress high command?"

Shivakumar Backs Siddaramaiah

Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar also said he fully supports Siddaramaiah. "What option do I have? I have to stand by him and support him," he said. He added that all decisions will be made by the Congress high command and he will follow their instructions.

After the Congress won the May 2023 Assembly elections, some supporters of Shivakumar had wanted him to become Chief Minister. But Siddaramaiah got the support of most MLAs and was chosen as CM. Shivakumar accepted the post of Deputy CM and KPCC President.

Some MLAs Still Support Shivakumar

Even now, some Congress MLAs openly support Shivakumar. One of them, Iqbal Hussain, said that 100 out of 138 Congress MLAs support Shivakumar. He warned that ignoring this could hurt the party in the future.

Shivakumar responded by saying there is no problem in the party and that responsibilities are being shared among MLAs. He said that notices were given to those making public statements without permission, including Iqbal Hussain.

Government is Stable, Says CM

Siddaramaiah, during a visit to Mysuru, said the government is strong and will last five years. He compared it to a "bande" (rock) to show it is solid and steady.

State Minister Priyank Kharge also said there is no discussion about changing the leadership. "There is nothing on the table right now," he said.
