Kannada Actor Mayur Patel Booked After Drunk Driving Chain Collision in Bengaluru

Kannada actor Mayur Patel landed in trouble with the police after a late-night crash near Commando Hospital in Dommaluru, Bengaluru, on January 28. He was behind the wheel of a Fortuner SUV that smashed into three vehicles waiting at a red light, causing a messy chain collision.

Cops say Mayur was drunk when the accident happened. To make things worse, his Fortuner didn't even have valid insurance. Police seized the SUV on the spot and filed a case at Halasuru Traffic Police Station.

So, how did it all go down? The traffic light had just turned red, and cars were lined up in the right lane. Mayur's Fortuner came speeding from behind and slammed into a car owned by Srinivas. That car then hit another one belonging to Abhishek, and a government vehicle at the front took a hit too.

After the crash, drivers quickly called the police control room. Traffic cops showed up, took Mayur into custody, and ran a medical test-which confirmed he'd been drinking. They filed an FIR and kicked off a formal investigation.

Srinivas, who ended up filing the complaint, spoke to reporters later. He said Mayur introduced himself as an actor and promised to cover the damages. Srinivas shot videos at the scene. In one, you can hear Mayur assuring everyone he'll pay for repairs, even offering his Aadhaar card and phone number. Those videos spread fast on social media, and the story blew up. For Srinivas, the crash stung even more because he'd bought his car on a loan.

In another video, Mayur keeps telling everyone he'll fix the cars by the next morning. But police didn't wait-they went ahead with charges based on the complaint and the evidence right there.

Officers say they're recording statements from everyone involved, and they'll follow the law. The FIR covers drunk driving, reckless and negligent driving, causing a chain collision, and driving an uninsured vehicle.

A bit about Mayur Patel: he's the son of actor and producer Madan Patel. He entered the Kannada film scene over twenty years ago, starting with Andhra Hendathi and later making a mark in Mani, directed by Yogaraj Bhat. He's acted in movies like Udaya, Gunna, Love Story, Ninnade Nenapu, Muniya, Slum, and Pepe, and even directed Tamate. However, most of his films haven't done too well at the box office, and lately, he hasn't appeared in many projects.

As for the accident, police say the investigation is still underway. They'll decide what comes next after they complete going through evidence, test results, and everyone's statements.
