July 25 Holiday in Karnataka? Will Schools and Colleges Remain Closed on Friday?

With rain continuing to lash parts of Karnataka, including Bengaluru, Mysuru, and Shivamogga, many students and parents are asking: Will schools and colleges be closed on Friday, July 25?

Several districts have recorded intense showers in recent days, leading to waterlogging, traffic disruptions, and concern over student safety. While the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has not issued a red alert for July 25, moderate to heavy rain is expected to continue in many regions.

As of now, the Karnataka Education Department has not declared a statewide holiday for July 25. However, local district administrations have the authority to declare holidays based on prevailing weather conditions. In such cases, updates are often issued late in the evening or early morning.

Bengaluru, Kodagu, Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru, and Udupi have seen significant rainfall-these areas are most likely to consider closures.

In view of the heavy rainfall forecast, Kodagu district has also declared a holiday for all government, aided, and private schools and colleges on July 25. Similarly, the Dakshina Kannada district administration has announced a holiday for educational institutions, including Anganwadis, as a precautionary measure against the expected downpour.

Parents are advised to stay in touch with school WhatsApp groups, websites, or local news alerts.

Local authorities may issue last-minute notifications if rainfall intensifies overnight.

Earlier this month, districts like Uttara Kannada and Dakshina Kannada declared school holidays due to weather-related disruption. A similar situation could arise on Friday, July 25, if rains worsen.
