ITPL-Pattandur Agrahara Metro Skywalk to Open This Week, to Ease Last-Mile Connectivity in Whitefield

The ITPL-Pattandur Agrahara Metro skywalk is set to open on January 16, offering safer and faster access between the Pattandur Agrahara station on Bangalore's Purple Line and International Tech Park Bengaluru (ITPL) or ITPB. Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) expects the new pedestrian bridge to benefit more than 55,000 daily commuters who travel through Whitefield.

The skywalk allows Metro users to walk directly from the station concourse into ITPL, removing the need to cross busy roads or wait at crowded signals-a long-standing concern for professionals in the city's core technology hub.

Inauguration and Project Details

BMRCL has confirmed that construction of the skywalk is complete, with the formal inauguration scheduled for Friday, January 16. Senior officials from BMRCL and ITPL-associated entities are expected to attend the opening ceremony.

The project emerged from a memorandum of understanding signed on January 17, 2023, between BMRCL and Information Technology Park Limited. Under the agreement, ITPL constructed the skywalk following designs approved by BMRCL, ensuring safety standards and seamless integration with the Metro station.

Connectivity and Commuter Benefits

Once operational, the ITPL-Pattandur Agrahara Metro skywalk is expected to serve over 50,000 commuters daily, many of whom work inside ITPL. Professionals travelling from areas such as Kolar and Chikkaballapur on the Purple Line will now have a direct, safe, and predictable walkway to their offices.

The skywalk reduces last-mile travel time, eliminates risky road crossings, and mitigates delays caused by traffic congestion and frequent signal halts. It also addresses wider concerns around Bengaluru's transport stress, including traffic disruptions caused by VIP movements and challenges in urban delivery logistics.
