IT raids in Bengaluru: 2 officials suspended

The Karnataka Home Minister on Friday announced the government's decision to suspend 2 state government officers after Income tax department found huge amounts of unaccounted money in their possession.

Dr G Parameshwara made the announcement in the legislative council following uproar by the opposition demanding probe into the issue. "The government has decided to suspend C S Jayachandra and Chikkarayappa after Income Tax department found unaccounted cash with them. They will remain suspended until they are given a clean chit", said the Home Minister.

Both officals were raided along with 2 contractors who work for them over the last 3 days by Income Tax officials who unearthed illegal wealth worth Rs 152 crore including Rs 5.7 crore in new Rs 2000 currency notes.

The Anti Corruption bureau in Bengaluru is all set to file a suo moto case against both officials and begin investiations into the haul of illegal cash and property.
