Is Bidadi Set to Become Bengaluru’s Next Big IT Hub? Shivakumar Says Global Leaders Line Up to Invest Billions

A brand-new IT city is being considered for development in Bidadi, located to the south of Bengaluru, as global interest in Karnataka's tech ecosystem continues to rise. According to Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, leaders and investors from across the world are expressing keen enthusiasm to bring billion-dollar investments into Bengaluru.

"Leaders from various countries of the world are meeting me every day. Many are eager to start businesses in Bengaluru. We are supporting them as much as we can," the DCM said, highlighting the city's growing global appeal.

Speaking about the Bengaluru Tech Summit, Shivakumar noted that the event is set to attract around 50,000 participants, including representatives from 60 countries and leaders from every Indian state. A total of 1,500 major companies will take part in the summit.

He emphasised that supporting these companies will help drive Karnataka toward a future shaped by talent, innovation, technology, and a vibrant startup culture. "I always tell our next generation that they must compete on a global scale. If you come up with new ideas, the government is with you. We are providing opportunities for growth through startups. Our job is to create the right opportunities for those who trust us," he added.

The DCM praised the efforts of IT Minister Priyank Kharge and KIONICS in-charge Sharath Bachegowda, calling their work "excellent" and acknowledging their contribution to strengthening the state's digital ecosystem.

"The atmosphere of Bengaluru is conducive to everything. We have 25 lakh IT experts here. The human resources we have are unmatched anywhere else," he said, underscoring Karnataka's strong talent pool. The three-day tech conference, he added, will focus on shaping the future of innovation and will help the government refine its sector-specific policies and incentives.

Responding to reporters' questions about industry leaders appreciating the recent road repair work in the city, Shivakumar said, "We have done our job. Criticism is welcome, praise is welcome. Serving the people is the first priority."

With plans for a new IT city in Bidadi and rising global investor interest, Karnataka appears poised to further solidify its position as India's technology and innovation powerhouse.
