Infosys Mysuru Training Centre Sees 40+ Layoffs, But Trainees Get a Second Chance
Software giant Infosys terminated the employment of between 30 to 45 trainees at its Mysuru branch on Wednesday, March 26, due to their inability to meet internal assessment criteria, as reported by MoneyControl.
According to sources, these trainees were participants in the company's Foundation Skills Training Program but did not achieve the required passing standards, despite undergoing extra preparation, mock assessments, and assistance sessions.

This recent wave of layoffs follows the dismissal of approximately 350 trainees from the same campus just months earlier, many of whom experienced significant onboarding delays after waiting over 2.5 years for their hiring.
However, the report mentions that Infosys is offering these affected trainees another opportunity by providing 12 weeks of specialized training for prospective roles in its Business Process Management (BPM) division.
The trainees who did not succeed in their initial assessments can choose to participate in this new training program aimed at preparing them for potential BPM roles within the company. Infosys has pledged to cover the cost of this training, giving those affected a path to continue their careers with the organisation.
Emails sent to the trainees informed them, "Following the announcement of the results of your final assessment attempt, we regret to inform you that you did not meet the qualifying criteria in the Foundation Skills Training Program, despite receiving additional preparation time and multiple opportunities for mock assessments," as reported by MoneyControl.
While Infosys has not issued an official statement, reports indicate that the company will provide a one-month ex gratia payment along with a relieving letter to the employees impacted by this decision.
