IND vs AUS 5th T20I Match: Namma Metro Goes The Extra Mile For Cricket Fans, Extends Timings

In anticipation of the upcoming 5th T20I match between India and Australia at Bengaluru's Chinnaswamy Stadium on Sunday, December 3, 2023, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation (BMRCL) has announced an extension of metro train services. Metro timings will be extended until 11.45 PM on both the Green Line and Purple Line, ensuring that cricket fans can conveniently travel to and from the stadium.

BMRCL's announcement stated, "Given the T-20 Cricket match in Bangalore on December 3, 2023, BMRCL will be prolonging train services until 11.45 PM from the four terminal metro stations on Purple Line & Green Line."

Special one-time paper tickets will be available at all metro stations on Sunday, particularly tailored for travelers heading to MG Road and Cubbon Park stations, aiming to watch the cricket match at Chinnaswamy Stadium. The announcement further noted, "Moreover, return journey paper tickets will be up for sale at all Metro Stations on December 3, 2023, starting from 2.00 PM onwards. These paper tickets are valid for a single journey until the conclusion of the day's extended services, originating exclusively at Cubbon Park and MG Road Metro Station to any other Metro Station on the same day of purchase from 8.00 PM onwards."

During previous World Cup matches, Bengaluru's Namma Metro prolonged its operating hours to accommodate the vast number of commuters traveling from all corners of the city to reach Chinnaswamy Stadium, nestled in the heart of the city.

Furthermore, the QR ticketing feature will remain accessible, allowing commuters to purchase single and group tickets virtually through a WhatsApp bot, eliminating the need to queue up.

In a bid to facilitate group and family travel on Namma Metro, BMRCL recently introduced a QR group ticketing system to streamline ticket purchases and avoid lengthy queues at metro station counters. This service has been operational since November 16.
