In pics: Jagan and Chandrababu continue to fast over Telangana
Bangalore, Oct 8: The bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh has sparked off a series of controversies including the protests in the state, hunger strike by politicians and resignations of many ministers.
Following the bifurcation, YS Jaganmohan Reddy and his followers began an indefinite fast on Saturday, Oct 5. Joining him in the cause was The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief Chandrababu Naidu, who began his fast on Monday, Oct 7. Both the leaders blamed the government for the bifurcation and said that it was just politics and was done merely for the sake of votes.
As the leaders continued to fast, normal life took a hit in the state. Transport was shut down to many places and pilgrims were stuck, many regions suffered power crisis effecting health services in the state. Hospitals too were helpless as patients, new born, infants bore the brunt of the crisis.
No one knows for how long the crisis will continue.
