IISc, BWSSB Experts to Join Public Talk on Urban Water Security on February 28

With growing urbanisation placing increasing pressure on water resources, a public discussion on sustainable water management will be held in Bengaluru on February 28 as part of the Public Talk Series 2026.

The Bengaluru Science and Technology (BeST) Cluster, in collaboration with the Bangalore Apartments' Federation (BAF), is organising Episode 2 of the series on the theme "Water Security: Reuse, Recharge, Resilience". The session aims to bring together experts from science, policy and citizen groups to discuss practical approaches to managing urban water challenges.

The event will take place from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Kondajji Basappa Auditorium in Bengaluru.

The panel discussion will feature Dr. Rajiv K N, Chief Engineer (Projects) at BWSSB; Vishwanath S, Founder of Rainwater Club and Director at Biome Environmental Solutions; Prof. Lakshminarayana Rao from the Centre for Sustainable Technologies at IISc Bengaluru; Gayathri Muraleedharan, Deputy Head of the Urban Water Programme at WELL Labs; and Rajesh Ramamoorthy from the Bangalore Apartments' Federation.

Speakers are expected to share insights on science-backed solutions to strengthen water resilience in cities through better governance, infrastructure planning and community participation. Topics such as wastewater reuse, groundwater recharge and sustainable water practices in residential communities are likely to be addressed during the session.

Organisers say the event is open to citizens, researchers, policymakers and professionals working in the fields of urban planning, sustainability, innovation and public policy.

The Public Talk Series is part of a broader effort to encourage dialogue between institutions and communities on building sustainable urban living systems in Bengaluru.
