IAS officer committed suicide due to personal reasons- CBI says in closure report

The CBI team led by senior officer Chakravarthy, has filed a closure report in the case that was being investigated over the last 20 months by the central agency.

While concluding that D K Ravi had committed suicide due to personal reasons the Central Bureau of Investigation filed a closure report before the Assistant Commissioner. In a 90 page report filed on Wednesday the CBI states that IAS officer Ravi had committed suicide due to personal reasons.

The report was filed before the AC as he had conducted the inquest. The procedure demands that the investigation agency submit its report to the officer who conducted the inquest in case registered as Unidentified Death Reported.

The CBI in its report has claimed that personal reasons drove D K Ravi to suicide and there was no foulplay or criminal conspiracy as suspected earlier. The CBI had been analyzing forensic reports, call records apart from questioning several persons associated with Ravi and has arrived at the conclusion that there was nothing to suggest that the suicide was abetted nor was there a criminal conspiracy.

The state CID that had investigated the case in 2015 had said in its interim report to the government that personal reasons pushed the officer to suicide as well. Further, a report from the AIIMS in 2015 had also confirmed that Ravi had committed suicide. The CBI had taken the post mortem and autopsy report conducted in Karnataka for a second opinion to AIIMS. A panel of doctors who went into the report stated that it was a case of suicide.
