'I Won't Hesitate...': Siddaramaiah's Defiant Reaction To HC Ruling On MUDA Scam

In response to the Karnataka High Court's ruling regarding the alleged Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) scam, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah affirmed that he would not shy away from any investigation.

His comments followed the court's dismissal of his petition, which challenged the Governor's authorization for an inquiry into allegations concerning site allotments. "I will not hesitate from any investigation. I plan to consult with legal experts to determine if such an investigation is permissible under the law," he stated.

Siddaramaiah expressed his intent to discuss the matter with legal professionals to strategize his response. He conveyed confidence that the truth would emerge in the coming days. "The people of the state are behind me in this political battle. Their support is my strength. I have faith in the law and the constitution. Ultimately, the truth will prevail in this fight against the vindictive politics of the Narendra Modi-led BJP government," he added.

The Chief Minister had previously contested the Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot's approval for an investigation into alleged irregularities involving the allotment of 14 sites to his wife by MUDA in a prime area.

Siddaramaiah claimed, "The BJP and JD(S) are engaging in political retaliation against me because I advocate for the poor and fight for social justice."

What is the MUDA Case?

The MUDA is accused of facilitating a land exchange that involved trading valuable urban properties for less valuable rural ones. The Chief Minister's wife, Parvathi Siddaramaiah, is alleged to have benefited illegally from a transaction in which MUDA purchased her 3-acre site in Kesare village, Mysuru, in 2021. This deal reportedly involved swapping her land for more valuable properties in the affluent Vijayanagar neighborhood of Mysuru.
