Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar's inspection of the Hebbal flyover on Tuesday turned heads for an unexpected reason-he arrived on a Honda Dio scooter. Known for his earlier cycling stint at Vidhana Soudha, Shivakumar once again made waves on social media by borrowing a party worker's two-wheeler for the visit.
Clad in a helmet and sunglasses, he zipped across the flyover as cameras rolled, earning praise for his on-ground approach. But soon, the focus shifted from the leader to something curious-the scooter's number plate.
Scooter Has Rs 18,500 in Traffic Violations
Social media users were quick to identify the registration number KA04JZ2087, and it didn't take long for eagle-eyed citizens to uncover a shocking detail: the vehicle has racked up a whopping Rs 18,500 in unpaid traffic fines.

According to publicly accessible traffic violation databases, the scooter has committed 34 traffic violations to date. The fine history of the vehicle had previously gone viral, with the owner's repeated rule-breaking drawing criticism online.
The Dio scooter used by the DCM is reportedly the same one that has a long list of violations. While it is unclear whether Shivakumar was aware of the scooty's background, the incident has sparked a conversation around traffic enforcement, rule compliance, and due diligence by public officials.
UPDATE:
The traffic violation fine of Rs 18,500 pending against the two-wheeler ridden by Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar during an inspection of the Hebbal flyover loop has been cleared by the vehicle owner, police said on Thursday. According to the traffic police, the owner of the vehicle personally appeared at the RT Nagar Traffic Police Station on August 6 and paid the full amount.
Despite the social media stir, the Hebbal flyover project remains on track. Authorities have confirmed that final touches are being completed, and an official inauguration date will be announced shortly.
The new Hebbal flyover loop is expected to ease traffic coming from Nagavara, Thanisandra, and other northern localities, offering some much-needed relief to daily commuters.
