Hebbal Flyover Renovation: Bengaluru’s K.R. Pura Loop to Be Ready in 100 Days

In a significant development for Bengaluru's infrastructure, the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) has been given a firm deadline to finish the renovation of the K.R.Pura loop of the Hebbal flyover. The Chief Secretary, Shalini Rajneesh, has mandated the completion of this crucial project within the next 100 days. This directive comes after the BDA missed the initial deadline set for December 31, 2024, to finalize the ramp work starting from the Baptist Hospital side and to connect the partially demolished ramp. This connection is essential for easing vehicle movement towards Mekhri Circle from the K.R.Pura side, promising to significantly mitigate congestion.

The urgency of this project is underscored by the current traffic woes experienced by thousands of vehicles navigating from Nagawara towards Mekhri Circle. Presently, this journey can take upwards of half an hour, with severe bottlenecks occurring under the flyover at Nagawara, Tumkur Road, and National Highway Saviour's Road (from Esteem Mall side), especially during peak hours. This congestion extends for miles from the Hebbal flyover junction on the Outer Ring Road (ORR), highlighting the critical need for the swift completion of the K.R.Pura loop renovation.

Bengaluru s K R Pura Loop Renovation To Be Completed In 100 Days To Alleviate Traffic Issues

Furthermore, during her visit to inspect the ongoing works at the Hebbal flyover, Shalini Rajneesh also emphasized the importance of accelerating the construction of the composite steel girder bridge over the railway line. With the works progressing rapidly, permissions have been secured from the Railways for the laying of a span on Railway Department land, facilitating the placement of steel girders. These developments are part of broader plans by SWR and other agencies, looking ahead to the railway lines' future expansion. Two spans, one measuring 20 meters and the other 38 meters in length, are being laid according to RDSO rules, with a welder test currently underway in Gauribidanur. This project lays the groundwork for a future four-lane road over the railway line.

This infrastructure enhancement is a testament to the coordinated efforts between various agencies and the government's commitment to improving Bengaluru's traffic flow and urban mobility. The completion of the K.R.Pura loop and the composite steel girder bridge will not only alleviate current congestion but also contribute to a more efficient transportation network for the city's residents.
