Hebbal Flyover Lane Construction: Traffic Advisory For KR Pura, Nagawara Commuters Starting April 17

The Bengaluru Traffic Police have announced traffic changes in North Bengaluru at the KR Puram Up-Ramp of the Hebbal flyover starting April 17. These changes are due to the Bengaluru Development Authority's (BDA) construction of two new lanes for the flyover.

Bengaluru Police Commissioner B Dayananda stated, "The BDA has initiated road infrastructure works to add two new additional tracks to the Hebbal flyover. As a result, two spans of the existing K R Puram ramp need to be dismantled at the junction where the ramp joins the main track."

Starting Wednesday, the K R Puram up-ramp of the Hebbal flyover will be closed to all vehicular traffic except for two-wheelers.

Alternative routes from KR Puram to the city include:

• IOC-Mukunda Theatre Road, Lingarajapuram flyover, and Nagawara-Tannery Road.
• Hegde Nagar and Thanisandra can use GKVK-Jakkur Road to join the Hebbal flyover.
• KR Puram to Yeshwanthpur: Drivers can travel below the flyover and go via BEL Circle and Sadashivanagar Police Station Junction.
• Airport-bound vehicles from Hennur, HRBR Layout, Banaswadi, KR Puram, and KG Halli can take Hennur-Bagalur Road.

The change is a response to the significant traffic congestion in Bengaluru, which has about 1.16 crore registered vehicles. During peak hours, the city sees 50 lakh to 60 lakh vehicles on its roads daily. The focus is on traffic management, given Bengaluru's status as having the highest number of private vehicles in the country.
