Hebbal Flyover Lane Construction: KR Puram Loop To Be Removed By BDA Starting August 6
The Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) is set to commence the dismantling of a span of the KR Puram ramp at the Hebbal flyover junction from today i.e August 6. Commuters are advised to plan their journeys accordingly, especially those traveling via the Hebbal flyover, to avoid traffic disruptions. Their removal will pave the way for a new lane connecting Baptist Hospital to the road adjacent to the tree park at the busy intersection.
To ensure minimal inconvenience, the Bengaluru Traffic Police (BTP) will implement necessary measures to maintain a smooth flow of traffic. Here are some key points for commuters to consider:

Alternative Routes: With the dismantling work underway, commuters should consider alternative routes, such as using the Hebbal flyover, to bypass the affected area.
It must be noted that construction efforts are already visible, with several pillars placed on the service road and the BDA initiating the building of a new ramp from the Baptist Hospital side last year. Experts suggest that as the construction progresses, the northern side of the junction will necessitate the removal of the two loops.
The new 750-meter lane is expected to streamline traffic flow from Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) to Mehkri Circle, intersecting the points where the current loops connect with the main flyover lanes.
Authorities have allocated Rs 90 crore for the new ramp construction. "Without removing the two loops, we cannot construct the new ramp. However, given the vehicle density in the area, we need to consult with traffic police and make a decision," a BDA official had earlier mentioned this to a publication.
Additionally, the new lane will merge with the existing one after the rail track for drivers heading towards Mehkri Circle. An alternate 150-meter-long loop will be built for traffic arriving from the KR Puram side. The BDA aims to complete the ramp works by December.
Currently, traffic police are limiting vehicle movement on the ramp, allowing only two-wheelers. Other drivers heading to Hebbal and Mehkri Circle must make a right turn under the flyover and a U-turn before the Kodigehalli signal.
