HC Dismisses Anjuman-e-Islam’s Plea To Halt Ganesh Chaturthi Celebrations At Hubballi Idgah Maidan
The Dharwad bench of the Karnataka High Court on Friday dismissed a plea filed by the Anjuman-e-Islam to halt Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations at the Idgah Maidan in Hubballi.
In response to this decision, pro-Hindu groups organised protests in front of the Hubballi Dharwad Mahanagara Palike Office, seeking permission to observe Ganesh Chaturthi following the rejection of Anjuman-e-Islam's petition.

Following the court's ruling, Pramod Muthalik, the leader of Sri Ram Sene, distributed sweets to the public. He expressed his view, stating, "Anjuman-e-Islam approaching the court to halt Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations is not appropriate. We require permission from the Hubballi Dharwad Mahanagara Palike to celebrate the festival for 11 days."
It's worth noting that last year, the Karnataka High Court had granted permission for Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations at the Hubballi Idgah grounds in response to a petition filed before the court.
However, in the case of Bengaluru's Idgah ground, Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations were not permitted due to an ongoing property dispute between the BBMP and the Karnataka State Waqf Board.
