Guilty Should Be Punished: Renuka Swamy's Father After Darshan Gets Bail

"Guilty should be punished," the family of Renuka Swamy has said after actor Darshan got bail in his murder case on Wednesday.

"Bail has been granted under the legal system, we cannot comment on it. We have faith that the guilty will be punished. We have faith in law and the police. (Darshan's) treatment is a matter for the Doctor, him and the court, we don't want to comment on it," PTI quoted Renukaswamy's father Kashinath Shivanagoudar as saying.

The family has refused to comment on the bail saying the matter is in the court. "We don't have anything to say other than that the guilty should be punished. We have faith in law and judiciary, so we are confident that the guilty will be punished," he added.

Renuka Swamy was kidnapped from the aides of Darshan for allegedly sending obscene messages to actress Pavithra Gowda. He was brutally assaulted at a shed in Kamakshi Palya leading to his death. He was dumped at a drainage in Sumanahalli.

A total of 17 people including Darshan and Pavithra Gowda have been arrested.

Single-judge Justice S Vishwajith Shetty has granted six-week interim bail to Darshan to undergo surgery. The court had reserved the order on Tuesday over the interim bail application after hearing arguments from Darshan's counsel, senior advocate CV Nagesh, and State Public Prosecutor P Prasanna Kumar.

Meanwhile, Sahana, wife of Renukaswamy, had given birth to a baby boy on October 16. At the time of her husband's untimely death, she was five months pregnant.
