Bengaluru's GT World Mall Shut For 7 Days After Denying Entry To Dhoti-Clad Man
The Karnataka government announced measures against Bengaluru's GT Mall after the management refused entry to an elderly man wearing a dhoti. The government plans to impose a seven-day closure on the mall, located on Magadi Road.
A video showing the elderly man being denied entry to watch a movie because of his attire went viral on social media. The incident was brought up in the ongoing assembly session, and Karnataka Urban Development Minister Byrathi Suresh vowed strict action against the mall's management.

Addressing the assembly, Suresh said, "According to the law, the government can shut the mall for seven days. I spoke to the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) officers, and the mall will be closed for seven days as a consequence of this incident."
Following Suresh's announcement, Speaker UT Khader supported the decision and urged immediate implementation.
The viral video showed 70-year-old farmer Fakeerappa being denied entry to the mall despite holding a valid movie ticket along with his son, Nagaraj. When questioned, the security guard cited mall rules prohibiting entry for those wearing dhotis. Nagaraj shared the video on social media, appealing for government intervention.
Local farmer unions protested, demanding an apology from the mall management.
Actress and model Gauahar Khan condemned the incident on Instagram, said, "This is absolutely shameful. Strict action must be taken against the mall. This is India, and we all must be proud of our culture."
Earlier, a similar incident occurred at a metro station in Bengaluru, where a man was denied entry due to his attire. The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) subsequently suspended those involved.
