‘Government Will Stay Strong for Five Years’: CM Siddaramaiah Shuts Down Rift Rumours with DK Shivakumar

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Monday put to rest the growing buzz about a rift between him and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar. The CM said the Congress-led state government is strong and will complete its five-year term "like a rock."

Speaking to the media in Mysuru, Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar stood side by side, even holding hands to show unity. "We are united. Our government is stable and will work together for the full five years," the Chief Minister said, clearly denying any conflict within the leadership.

Dismisses Talk About Dussehra Inauguration

Siddaramaiah also responded to a claim by BJP's R Ashoka, who said the CM might not inaugurate the upcoming Dussehra celebrations. Laughing it off, Siddaramaiah asked, "What do you think, will I inaugurate Dussehra?" He affirmed that both he and Shivakumar are on the same page and blamed the BJP for spreading rumours.

Congress General Secretary Surjewala's Visit Raises Eyebrows

Meanwhile, the visit of Congress General Secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala to Karnataka stirred political talk. Some leaders believe his visit is linked to internal party matters, especially after state minister KN Rajanna hinted at a possible reshuffle.

However, Siddaramaiah clarified Surjewala's visit was purely about party organisation. "He is coming to strengthen the party. That's his job," he said.

Even Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara said he wasn't sure of the purpose but guessed it could be related to discussions ahead of local body elections. "I've requested time to meet him personally," Parameshwara added.

Kharge: Only High Command Knows Leadership Decisions

Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge also addressed the issue, saying any decision about the Chief Minister's post lies solely with the party high command. "No one knows what's going on at the top level. These decisions rest with the high command," he told reporters.

Backdrop of Political Tensions

These statements come as speculation grows over internal differences in the Congress party in Karnataka, just ahead of the Zilla and Taluk Panchayat elections. Despite the chatter, senior leaders continue to project unity and deny any plans for leadership changes.
