Google Maps Shows Wrong Travel Time, Passenger Misses Bengaluru-Mumbai Flight
Google Maps has faced increasing criticism in recent years for providing outdated information and misleading directions, often leading to detours and delays. One such incident involved Ashish Kacholia, who missed his flight from Bengaluru to Mumbai due to incorrect travel time estimates. Sharing his experience on social media, Kacholia humorously remarked, "Life is relative."
Kacholia recounted that Google Maps indicated a travel time of 1 hour and 45 minutes to the airport, but the journey ended up taking three hours, causing him to miss his flight. "Yesterday missed my flight from Bengaluru to Mumbai because the journey took three hours instead of 1.45 as shown by Google Maps," he posted on X.

Expressing gratitude for Mumbai's efforts to improve traffic flow, he wrote, "Deeply grateful to Mumbai administration @mybmc for investing in infrastructure to keep traffic moving in maximum city," and concluded with, "Life is relative."
The post, shared on August 30, quickly went viral, sparking a flood of comments. One user noted, "Recently, Google predictions have become quite unreliable. Always ask a local if weather conditions are not good in any part of the city."
Another asked, "Sir, blaming Bengaluru or Google Maps? Please give clarity," to which Kacholia responded, "Obviously, Google Maps."
One commenter observed, "I think Bengaluru is the only place where you can't rely on the travel time shown on Google Maps. Rarely happened in Gurgaon (even though I used to commute from Gurgaon to Delhi every day)."
A fourth added, "Google Maps has become unreliable in general - Showing wrong routes as well as traffic. Add Bengaluru to the above, and the mix is lethal as you experienced."
