Fly91 Hyderabad-Hubballi Flight Diverted to Bengaluru After Weather Disrupts Hubballi Landing

A Fly91 flight on the Hyderabad to Hubballi route was diverted to Bengaluru on Sunday after adverse weather blocked landing at Hubballi. The aircraft stayed airborne for nearly three hours with 22 passengers on board. All passengers later reached Hubballi safely after the weather improved and operations resumed.

The flight, IC3401, left Hyderabad at about 3 pm and was expected at Hubballi around 4.30 pm. Near Hubballi, the crew met poor weather and entered a holding pattern. Officials said the aircraft circled for roughly one hour before air traffic control directed a diversion to Bengaluru under standard safety rules.

The diverted Fly91 flight landed in Bengaluru at around 6.30 pm without incident. Passengers waited at Bengaluru airport until conditions over Hubballi turned favourable. The same aircraft departed Bengaluru for Hubballi at about 11 pm, completed that sector, and then returned to its base in Hyderabad later that night.

During the extended time in the air, passengers reported tense scenes inside the cabin. The long delay and repeated circling over Hubballi led to visible anxiety. Some travellers were seen crying, while others reportedly prayed as they waited for information about landing and the diversion.

Fly91 flight: safety protocol and other weather diversions

On Monday, Fly91 issued a statement rejecting reports that the aircraft had a technical fault. The airline said suggestions of a mechanical problem were "false and baseless". Fly91 added that the aircraft did not develop any snag and that the diversion happened only because of weather at Hubballi.

The statement said, "The flight IC3401 flying from Hyderabad to Hubballi did not develop any technical snag as is being reported in some sections of the media. On nearing Hubballi, the flight encountered bad weather due to which it was diverted to Bengaluru as per standard protocol," explaining that holding over Hubballi and diverting were routine procedures.

Fly91 further stated that such actions form part of standard operating procedures and reflect aviation best practices. According to the airline, "There was zero compromise to safety. Fly91 has a highly skilled team of pilots, cabin crew and ground staff trained to manage any situation. The airline has an impeccable safety record." An official added, "All passengers are safe. There is no issue."

Airport officials also highlighted that poor weather affected more than one route in the region on the same day. A Mumbai-Kolhapur service was redirected to Goa because conditions did not allow a safe landing at Kolhapur. The Fly91 flight episode, reported with agency inputs, underlined how weather disruptions continue to influence flight operations.

The Fly91 Hyderabad to Hubballi diversion therefore stemmed from bad weather rather than any technical concern, according to airport authorities and the airline. Passengers experienced a stressful journey and long delay but reached their destination safely after multiple steps under standard safety protocol, including holding patterns, diversion to Bengaluru and a later onward flight.
