FIR Against YouTuber for Filming Restricted Zone Near Bengaluru Airport

Bengaluru airport police have registered an FIR against a YouTuber for allegedly filming and uploading aerial footage from a restricted zone near Kempegowda International Airport, citing violations of aviation safety norms.

According to police, the YouTuber recorded high-angle visuals of ongoing metro construction work in an area classified as a "red zone" by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation. Aviation security rules prohibit drone operations, aerial videography and unauthorised recording in such sensitive zones.

The footage was later uploaded on a YouTube channel named "Bangalore Wanderlust", drawing the attention of airport authorities. Officials said any form of aerial photography near operational areas of an airport poses potential risks to flight safety and national security.

Based on a complaint from airport authorities, the Bengaluru airport police initiated legal action and registered a case. Sources said the investigation will examine how the aerial footage was captured and whether drone equipment was used.

Following the registration of the FIR, the YouTube channel was reportedly deactivated or made inaccessible. However, officials said the probe is continuing to assess the technical and operational aspects of the violation.

Police maintained that action was taken in the interest of aviation safety, passenger security and protection of critical infrastructure. Authorities added that strict enforcement of DGCA guidelines will continue in red zones around the airport.
