E-Khata: New BBMP Khata Launched For Over 5 Lakh Property Owners
In Bengaluru, more than 5 lakh properties are currently operating without a Khata from the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP). These properties have been transacting without the proper registration, and many of them have also been outside the property tax net. However, under the vision of Hon'ble Deputy Chief Minister Shri D K Shivakumar, a plan has been put in motion to bring these properties into the mainstream by issuing new BBMP Khata to all eligible property owners.
To facilitate this process, the BBMP has introduced a new online system, making it easier for citizens to apply for a BBMP Khata. The online system requires property owners to submit the following documents:

- Sale/Registered Deed
- Aadhaar Card
- Encumbrance Certificate
- Property Photo
- BESCOM ID
Property owners can apply for the new BBMP Khata by visiting the official online portal at https://bbmp.karnataka.gov.in/newkhata/
It is important to note that if you already have an existing manual Khata, you should not apply for the new BBMP Khata for that property, as doing so may lead to criminal action for attempting to take duplicate or multiple Khata registrations for the same property.
The BBMP urges residents to avoid visiting any BBMP offices in person. The online application process will ensure that the request is processed smoothly and without any hassle.
Tushar Giri Nath, IAS, Chief Commissioner of BBMP, emphasized the importance of this initiative, noting that it will help in streamlining property transactions and bring more properties under the property tax net, which is expected to contribute to the city's development. Residents are encouraged to take advantage of this user-friendly system and ensure that their properties are properly registered with the BBMP.
