e-Khata Faceless Services Launched: Bengaluru Property Owners Can Get e-Khata Without Visiting Offices

In a significant step towards digitization and transparency, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) is set to implement a faceless e-Khata system under the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA). Inspired by the Central Government's Income Tax Department model, this move aims to eliminate middlemen, reduce corruption, and ensure that property-related services are delivered swiftly and fairly.

Key Features of the New BBMP E-Khata System

Online & Faceless Process: Citizens will no longer need to visit BBMP offices. Applications will be processed entirely online without physical interaction.

FIFO Principle: Applications will be disposed of using the First In, First Out (FIFO) method, maintaining fairness and order.

Random Distribution: E-Khata and new Khata applications will be randomly distributed to officers, preventing local bias and reducing the scope for corruption.

Non-Local Handling: Applications will be processed outside the local jurisdiction, reducing the influence of local intermediaries.

How the E-Khata Application Process Works

Each officer is assigned 50 applications at a time related to e-Khata, new Khata, and property tax services.

As soon as one application is disposed of, a new one is automatically assigned, maintaining a constant workflow.

Officers must process applications within 3 days. If they fail, the applications are withdrawn and re-assigned using a round-robin system.

If an application is left unattended for more than 36 hours, it will be automatically withdrawn and reallocated.

Only the Zonal Joint Commissioner can approve or reassign applications if there are delays.

Transparency and Accountability in Action

Citizens are not informed which officer handles their case, ensuring unbiased processing.

All decisions are made strictly in line with existing laws, rules, and circulars, based on the documents submitted.

Site inspections are carried out only by authorized personnel to verify claims before approval.
