Did Kannada Actor Darshan And Aides Force Vegetarian Renuka Swamy To Eat Non-Veg Biryani?

Reports were circulating that Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa and his associates, who allegedly tortured Renuka Swamy during an attack, had forced him to eat non-vegetarian biryani despite him being a vegetarian. However, the police investigating the murder case have denied these claims. Renuka Swamy stated, "I don't eat meat. Don't spoil my caste," alleging that he was forcibly fed biryani. The police clarified that there is no evidence to support the claim that Renuka Swamy was further assaulted for refusing to eat, stating that it is far from the truth.

The police have interrogated the owner of a car used in the crime. Two individuals from RR Nagar were questioned following the issuance of a notice, and substantial information has been collected. Sources indicate that these individuals may be summoned for further questioning if necessary.

Pressure from Legislators:

Deepak, the 13th accused in the case, is a relative of an influential MLA from Bengaluru. Deepak, identified as the son of the politician's sister, was part of Darshan's inner circle. Reports suggest that several strategies were employed by the MLA to protect Deepak, who is implicated in Renuka Swamy's murder. There are allegations that police officers faced pressure from the MLA.

Pradosh and the Corporator Election:

Accused Pradosh, a resident of Girinagar, was preparing to contest the upcoming BBMP elections. Recognised as an activist of a national party, Pradosh was involved in party activities in the Girinagar area and was closely associated with actor Darshan. A Scorpio car used in the crime was registered under Pradosh's name and used by Darshan. Additionally, Pradosh was involved in arranging ₹30 lakh to secure Darshan's release and played a significant role in planning the surrender of four youths from Girinagar, according to sources.

Darshan's Interrogation:

The interrogation of the accused Darshan at the Annapoorneswari Nagar Police Station continued on Friday. Throughout the questioning, Darshan consistently responded with, "I don't know anything about the murder." He remained silent and remorseful, claiming innocence. The main accused, Pavitra Gowda, is reportedly not cooperating with the investigation, despite being presented with additional evidence. The investigation team has indicated that this lack of cooperation will be reported to the court.
