Did Bengaluru CEO Suchana Seth Overdose Her Son With Cough Syrup Before Smothering?

The investigation into the tragic death of 4-year-old Chinmay continues in Goa with police focusing on new details emerging during the interrogation of his mother, Suchana Seth. Authorities have confirmed the post-mortem report indicates Chinmay was smothered, but are unable to disclose further details at this stage due to ongoing legal proceedings.

The Goa Police suspect that Suchana administered an overdose of cough syrup to her 4-year-old son, Chinmay, before allegedly smothering him to death. The post-mortem report confirmed that the boy was smothered using a cloth or pillow.

The entrepreneur from Bengaluru is currently in 6-day police custody, apprehended by the Chitradurga Police while attempting to flee with her son's body in a cab on January 8. After being brought back to Goa on Tuesday, the police obtained her custody for further questioning in the murder case registered at Calangute Police Station.

During the investigation, two empty bottles of cough syrup were discovered in the hotel room where Suchana stayed. Interrogation of hotel staff revealed that she had ordered a syrup bottle, claiming to have a cough.

The police suspect that Suchana might have carried another bottle of cough syrup before checking into the hotel on January 6. It is believed she may have given two bottles of cough syrup to Chinmay to render him unconscious before smothering him. The post-mortem report indicated no injury marks on the body.

Suchana was taken to the Institute of Psychiatry and Human Behaviour near Panaji for a psychological medical examination to assess her mental state.

The police suspect that Suchana took this drastic step as the court had recently granted her husband, Venakataramana, the right to meet Chinmay every Sunday, amid their ongoing divorce proceedings.

Suchana had initially booked the hotel from January 6 to January 10. However, on the night of January 7, she requested the hotel staff to arrange a cab to Bengaluru, citing urgent work. She left the hotel around 1 am on January 8.

Upon discovering bloodstains in the room, the hotel staff informed the police, who then contacted the cab driver. The driver led them to the Aimangala Police Station in Chitradurga, where Suchana was subsequently arrested.
