Demonetisation: Skeletons tumble after KAS officer's arrest

Sources said that the KAS officer has spilt the beans on how he exchanged notes and who his clients were

The arrest of Karnataka Administrative Service officer Bheema Naik is giving the Criminal Investigation Department new leads. Sources from the department reveal that the officer has named real estate businessmen, politicians, financiers and traders in his statement.

The CID is likely to send notices to the people that the KAS officer has revealed which also include BJP leader Sriramulu and illegal mining case accused Gali Janardhana Reddy. The primary allegation against the officer was that of helping Janardhana Reddy convert money for his daughter's wedding post demonetistion.

Sources also revealed that Naik used his subordinates to exchange demonetised currency notes with legal tender. The KAS officer is suspected to have converted money for many others before he was accused by Ramesh, his driver in a suicide note.

Naik was arrested on Sunday Ramesh, in his suicide note, had accused him of corruption and laundering money illegally on a commission basis. The Karnataka government had suspended Naik from services and had ordered a CID inquiry against him.
