Constable suspended after video of him beating ex-army man goes viral
The constable, Devaraj, 35, was deployed for security outside a Syndicate Bank ATM where the crowd was becoming increasingly aggressive. Nandappa was part of the crowd outside the ATM.
The Karnataka police suspended a constable for assaulting an ex-army man in Bagalkot. The video of the constable assaulting Nandappa, 55, a retired army personnel went viral on Thursday.
The constable, Devaraj, 35, was deployed for security outside a Syndicate Bank ATM where the crowd was becoming increasingly aggressive. Nandappa was part of the crowd outside the ATM.

Devaraj is said to have used force to push the crowd away. An argument broke out between Devaraj and the crowd, including Nandappa. As the situation escalated, Devaraj assaulted Nandappa.
The video of the assault went viral forcing the police department to take action against the constable. A departmental inquiry has been ordered in this regard.
