'Channapatna Deserves The Best; I’ll Work Tirelessly,' Vows CP Yogeshwara

In a closely watched contest in Karnataka, BJP turncoat CP Yogeshwara, who joined the Congress in October, secured a decisive victory in the Channapatna by-election. Yogeshwara defeated JD(S) candidate Nikhil Kumaraswamy by a margin of 25,413 votes. Speaking exclusively to OneIndia after his triumph, Yogeshwara expressed gratitude for the platform's unbiased and in-depth election coverage, stating, "I commend OneIndia for its dedication to transparent and balanced reporting throughout this election."

Yogeshwara attributed his victory to the unwavering support of Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, emphasizing the united efforts of the Congress leadership in the region. "With the backing of DK Shivakumar and Siddaramaiah, I am committed to bringing meaningful development to Channapatna and the Ramanagara district," he said.

Highlighting his longstanding commitment to the district, Yogeshwara noted, "I have already done so much for this district, and this victory comes with more responsibility. All four MLAs from this region are now from Congress, which strengthens our ability to work effectively for the people."

The Channapatna by-election was a high-stakes contest that garnered widespread attention. Nikhil Kumaraswamy, a prominent figure in Karnataka politics and the grandson of former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda, faced off against the seasoned politician Yogeshwara. While the JD(S) hoped for a political resurgence, Yogeshwara's appeal as a harbinger of change and his extensive experience swayed the voters in favor of Congress.

This victory not only bolsters the position of DK Shivakumar in the Vokkaliga-dominated region but also signals Congress's intent to solidify its foothold in Karnataka. Yogeshwara's commitment to infrastructure development and welfare programs is set to shape the future trajectory of Channapatna and the surrounding areas under Congress's governance.
