Caught On Cam: Autorickshaw Driver Assaults Woman Passenger In Bengaluru; Arrested

In a shocking incident, an autorickshaw driver assaulted a woman passenger and the incident was caught on CCTV.

As per a report in Deccan Herald, the driver associated with the Rapido has been arrested and he has been identified as Gangavara Prasad. The incident occurred around 8.30 am in Bellandur's Green Glen Layout.

The report claims that the passenger, an IT professional, hails from Odisha and resided at a PG as a paying guest in Bellandur. She had booked an auto to travel from Thubarahalli to Whitefield.

According to the victim, she decided to cancel the ride after the auto driver reached the sport a little late, resulting in an altercation that led to his assault on her.

A man named Rajesh Pradhan, claiming to be Victin's friend, shared a video while seeking action against the autorickshaw driver. The video clearly shows that an altercation occurred between the passenger and the auto driver.

Rajesh Pradhan, who claimed to be the victim's friend, shared details of the incident on X (formerly Twitter) and sought police action. Footage shared by Pradhan also showed an altercation between the woman and the auto driver, who shoved her and she fell down.

As per the auto driver, the woman had requested him to place her bags inside the auto. When he mentioned his illness, she verbally abused him and physically confronted him by grabbing the collar of his shirt. Consequently, he asserted that he pushed her in response.

Responding to the cops' action, Pandian thanked them and said,"I really appreciate the quick action and efforts from the #bellandurubcp Within 24 hours they caught the culprit. I thank SI of Bellandur Police station for the kind cooperation and necessary actions I thank the entire police team & dept."
