3 Bengaluru Hotels Receive Bomb Threat Email; Turns Out To Be Hoax

A bomb threat mail was sent to three reputed hotels including The Oterra in Bengaluru, ANI reported.

"Teams of bomb squad and police are currently at The Oterra hotel," DCP South East Bengaluru told the news agency.

As per a report on Republic TV, three hotels received the threat emails around 2 am on Thursday. The hotel staff noted the emails when they checked their morning mail.

Then, the staff alerted the local police. The bomb disposal squad arrived at the site and an extensive search was conducted before declaring that it was a hoax.

In the last few months, such threat emails have become common in most majority cities in India. From hospitals to airports, schools to malls, there have been a worrying trend where organisations have received hoax emails.

On Wednesday, a bomb threat sent alarm bells ringing in the North Block in Delhi, which houses the home ministry office, but was declared a hoax after nothing objectionable was found, officials said.

The threat was received through an email around 3.30 pm by a senior officer posted at the ministry, according to a Delhi Fire Services (DFS) official.

It was written in the email that the "building will explode as bomb is planted", a police officer said and added that the IP address and other details of the mail are being checked.

In December 2023, at least 15 private schools in Bengaluru on Friday morning received an email with a bomb threat on its premises, triggering panic among the staff and parents.

The school authorities immediately alerted police, which reached the institutions concerned with the bomb disposal squads and anti-sabotage check teams.
