BJP MLA Munirathna Faces Rape Allegations: Investigation Underway

A shocking revelation has come to light involving BJP MLA Munirathna, who is accused of raping a 40-year-old woman multiple times over the span of two years, from 2020 to 2022. The woman's harrowing testimony was recorded before a magistrate in Nelamangala on September 19, following her filing a rape case against Munirathna at the Kaggalipura police station. This incident reportedly took place in his chamber at the Vikasa Soudha and in his official vehicle. Munirathna was arrested on September 18 and is presently under the scrutiny of a Special Investigation Team (SIT).

The woman's distressing account details how Munirathna not only sexually assaulted her but also manipulated her into committing criminal acts. She described being forced to befriend another woman, who was allegedly extorting the spouse of a high-ranking IAS officer previously affiliated with the BBMP, under Munirathna's instruction. The victim shared how she was tasked with taking the woman shopping and to resorts, which culminated in a nefarious plot where the woman was drugged, photographed in compromising positions, and ultimately accused of blackmail.

The ordeal didn't end there. The accused MLA's scheme also involved law enforcement, with the woman stating that the police took the alleged blackmailer into custody but unusually presented her before Munirathna. She was then convinced to leave the city under the pretense of receiving a political position, which led to the withdrawal of the complaint against her. Furthermore, the victim implicated Munirathna in a larger conspiracy, claiming he secured a significant financial release of Rs 400 crore through the IAS officer and possesses incriminating videos of various police officers, which he allegedly uses for blackmail.
