Bishop Cotton School Receives Another Bomb Threat, Bengaluru Police Confirm Hoax

Bengaluru's Bishop Cotton School received an email threatening that a bomb had been planted on campus. After a thorough search, the police declared it a hoax.

The email, reportedly sent by a man named Venkataraman, claimed that the bomb would explode around 3:30 pm. Although the threat was emailed at 9 am, the school only became aware of it around 3 pm and immediately contacted the police.

The Cubbon Park police responded swiftly, evacuating students and conducting a combing operation with canine and bomb disposal units. After an extensive search, no suspicious items were found on the premises. An FIR has been filed, and an investigation is underway.

This marks the second bomb threat Bishop Cotton School has received in two months. In December 2023, it was among 70 Bengaluru schools targeted by hoax bomb threats, causing widespread alarm among school authorities.

In a similar incident in October, three colleges in South Bengaluru received bomb threat emails. The emails were allegedly sent from an account belonging to Tamil Nadu BJP leader S Ve Shekher. Police later detained Dipanjan Mitra from Darjeeling in connection with those threats.
