Bengaluru's Satellite Ring Road (Dabaspet-Hoskote Stretch) To Ease Traffic: Expected Launch Date, Toll Fees

Bengalurians can seamlessly travel to neighbouring towns in Bengaluru from March as the first phase of the Satellite Town Ring Road (STRR) project from Dabaspet to Hoskote via Doddaballapur is set to be opened.

This 80-kilometer stretch promises to alleviate traffic congestion in the city as the number of trucks entering Bengaluru from Tumakuru Road will be reduced by 40-50, according to a report in The Times of India.

Bengalurus Satellite Ring Road

The project links three national highways: NH 48 (Tumakuru Road), NH 44 (Ballari Road), and NH 75 (Bengaluru-Kolar Road).

NHAI project director KB Jayakumara told the daily that the construction works will be completed by the end of this month as only 500-700 metres of work are pending.

"At two stretches, the construction of a railway over bridge (RoB) near Doddaballapur and an underpass near Doddabelavangala is in advanced stages. The underpass project was not part of the original plan. Considering the demand from villagers, we are constructing the new underpass. We will complete these works by February, and in the first week of March, traffic will be allowed on the entire stretch of 80 km," he said.

Satellite Ring Road To Ease Traffic

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) had partially inaugurated a 34-kilometer segment of the STRR in November, spanning from Doddaballapur to Hoskote. The tooth booth is located at Nallur village in Bengaluru Rural district for this section.

"As the road connects major highways, the trucks heading to Ballari Road and Bengaluru-Kolar Road will not enter the city limits. This will ease the traffic in the city limits," the official stated.

Toll Fees

Although it has not been officially announced, the toll fee is likely to be Rs 160 for the cars using the entire stretch. A toll plaza will come up near Hulikunte, situated between Dobaspet and Doddaballapur.

Also, the completion of the 4-kilometer section near Hoskote and the integration of the STRR with the Bengaluru-Chennai expressway has been completed.

Expected Inauguration

The toll is expected to be launched in March before the Model Code of Conduct comes into effect for Lok Sabha elections.
