Bengaluru's Railway Network Goes High-Tech With New Signaling System
The Indian Railways, widely favored by the poor and middle-class populace, is set to undergo significant infrastructure upgrades in Bengaluru division. To bolster railway operations, the Railways has greenlit the implementation of an automatic signaling system across six key routes in Bengaluru.
This strategic decision aims to streamline train movement and mitigate the risk of accidents. Spanning a total distance of 639 kilometers, the project is slated to incur an estimated cost of approximately Rs 874 crore.

Several outes have been earmarked for the installation of automatic signaling, including:
- KSR Bangalore City-Yeshwantpur-Yalahanka
- Yeshwantpur-Arasikere
- Lottegollahalli-Hosur
- Whitefield-Jolarpet
- Baiyappanahalli-Penukonda-Channasandra
- Bangalore City-Mysuru
Presently, the KSR Bangalore City-Whitefield section of the Bangalore segment within the South Western Railway already boasts an automatic signaling system. This transition from manual to automatic signaling in the railway relay room is poised to enhance train efficiency and passenger convenience significantly.
