Bengaluru's Most Delayed Ejipura Flyover Inches Toward Reality, to Ease Koramangala: Here’s the Latest Update

Bengaluru's long-stalled Ejipura flyover project is finally picking up pace after nearly eight years of frustrating delays. The 2.5 km stretch, aimed at easing traffic between Ejipura Main Road and Kendriya Sadan Junction in Koramangala, is now 60% complete, according to the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP).

Once finished, this elevated corridor is expected to decongest the notoriously busy 100-Feet Road and significantly improve daily commutes for thousands of residents.

Bengaluru s Most Delayed Ejipura Flyover Inches Toward Reality to Ease Koramangala Here s the Latest Update

Why Was It Delayed for So Long?

The project was initially awarded to Simplex Infrastructure in 2017. However, despite multiple deadline extensions, only 42.8% of the work was completed in five years. The BBMP finally cancelled the contract in March 2022, seizing over ₹10 crore in security deposits.

After several failed attempts to retender the project, Hyderabad-based BSCPCL Pvt Ltd took over in November 2023 with a 15-month completion target.

Construction Progress in 2025

According to BBMP officials:

70 out of 84 pillars have been erected

300 of 762 segments are already installed

Work on the Ejipura-Madiwala ramps is in full swing

A loop toward Sarjapur Road is also under construction

Once completed, the flyover will make seven key junctions signal-free, bringing long-awaited relief to the Ejipura-Koramangala-Madivala corridor.

Challenges Ahead

Some final hurdles remain. Land acquisition near St. John's Medical College is pending, and the BBMP is in negotiations to fast-track the process. Additionally, 30-40 trees are being relocated to make way for the remaining segments of the flyover.

Expected Completion and Impact

If progress continues at the current pace, the flyover is expected to be ready by end of 2025. The project could finally deliver the traffic relief that Koramangala residents have waited nearly a decade for.
