Bengaluru Weather Woes: Over 50 Flights Delayed Due To Bad Weather At Kempegowda International Airport
Severe weather conditions across the country caused disruptions in over 50 domestic flights departing from Bengaluru's Kempegowda International Airport on Sunday. Passengers faced significant frustration due to extended delays and a few flight cancellations, notably to destinations like Goa, Delhi, Varanasi, Mumbai, Prayagraj, and Vijayawada, primarily attributed to foggy weather. Airlines such as Indigo, Akasa Air, and Air India experienced delays, leading to chaotic scenes in Bengaluru Airport's Terminal 1.

Bollywood actor Ranvir Shorey voiced his displeasure on social media, criticizing the airline's management and describing the situation as "absolute pandemonium." Other passengers shared their ordeal online, expressing frustration over flight delays and a perceived lack of responsiveness from airline staff. Reports suggested that flight delays persisted into Monday morning.
Indigo acknowledged the inconvenience faced by passengers, attributing the delays to operational reasons arising from the late arrival of incoming flights. The airline expressed understanding of the discomfort caused but clarified that it was unintended.
Not limited to Bengaluru, flight delays were also observed in Delhi due to thick fog in the northern part of the country. While the exact number of delayed flights lacked official confirmation, Delhi airport's website indicated approximately 200 delayed flights throughout the day, with at least ten cancellations.
The impact of extreme weather conditions extended to train services as well, causing delays and halts in various parts of the country, particularly in North India. The disruptions are anticipated to persist for several days.
