Bengaluru Weather: Cyclone Fengal Disrupts Bengaluru Weekend Plans With Heavy Rainfall

Cyclone Fengal has wreaked havoc, particularly dampening the spirits of those looking forward to the weekend in Bengaluru. The city experienced a torrential downpour since midnight, causing considerable distress to motorists and party-goers alike, who found the combination of the severe cold and rain too much to bear. The storm's intensity didn't spare the city's residents, resulting in widespread discomfort due to the relentless rain.

As the cyclone's effects were felt across the state, Bengaluru bore the brunt with continuous rainfall affecting various parts of the city. Key areas such as Corporation Circle, Lalbagh, Mysore Bank Circle, Majestic, Rajajinagar, and others faced heavy downpours from midnight to dawn, disrupting the usual pace of life and the weekend plans of many. This unexpected turn of weather has put a damper on the weekend mood, with the rain persisting till the morning hours.

The weather forecast, according to Skymet Weather Report, predicts heavy rainfall in coastal areas of North Tamil Nadu and South Andhra Pradesh in the upcoming 24 hours. Additionally, regions like Andaman and Nicobar Islands, interior Tamil Nadu, coastal Andhra Pradesh, and coastal Odisha can expect light to moderate rain.

The forecast also includes light rain for Lakshadweep, south interior Karnataka, Kerala, certain parts of Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal region, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura, while dense fog might cover areas in Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Bihar, Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh.

Weather Impact Across Other Regions

The India Meteorological Department's report complements the forecast with predictions of light, moderate, and heavy rains likely to occur in many parts of Karnataka until December 4. While coastal and southern interior districts of the state anticipate rain, northern interior districts are expected to remain dry. This mixed bag of weather conditions underscores the wide-ranging impact of the cyclone and associated weather fronts across different regions.

In light of the current weather conditions, the coastal Karnataka districts such as Dakshina Kannada and Udupi are set to experience light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning today (December 1). The following days, up to December 4, will see a continuation of light to moderate rainfall in many parts of these districts. Similarly, Uttara Kannada district is also expected to receive light rain during this period, further indicating the widespread effect of the cyclone and subsequent weather patterns across the state.

Extended Forecast and Warnings

The weather forecast extends beyond Karnataka, with thundershowers expected in Kerala, Mahe, Telangana, and Rayalaseema between November 30 and December 2. The Andaman and Nicobar Islands are predicted to experience heavy rain this week, while Lakshadweep, along with coastal and north interior areas, should prepare for light to moderate rain with thundershowers from December 1 to December 2. These predictions highlight the comprehensive impact of the current weather system affecting various regions.
