Bengaluru Weather: Chilly Night Across Karnataka Till January 18, Coastal Districts Remain Warmer

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast dry weather across Karnataka over the next seven days, accompanied by cold conditions and the possibility of early morning fog in some regions, particularly in interior parts of the state.

Dry Weather Across All Regions Till January 18

According to the IMD's outlook for Day 2 to Day 5 (January 15 to January 18, 2026), dry weather is likely to prevail across all districts of Coastal Karnataka, North Interior Karnataka, and South Interior Karnataka. No rainfall activity is expected during this period, keeping weather conditions largely stable across the state.

Temperature Trend and Fog Conditions

In the past 24 hours, minimum temperatures were above normal by 3-4°C at a few places across Karnataka. Fog was reported at one or two locations in South Interior Karnataka, affecting visibility during early morning hours. However, the IMD has issued no temperature-related warnings, indicating that weather conditions are not expected to turn severe.

The IMD has also stated that no significant change in minimum temperatures is likely over the next five days, suggesting that the current cold spell will continue without major fluctuations.

District-wise Minimum Temperatures: Chitradurga Coldest

District-wise data shows chilly conditions in several parts of the state. Chitradurga recorded the lowest minimum temperature at 10.1°C, followed by Kolar at 11.5°C. Bengaluru Rural (13.4°C) and Chikkaballapura (13.6°C) also witnessed low night temperatures.

In the Bengaluru region, Bengaluru Urban recorded a minimum of 14.3°C, while Bengaluru South registered 15.1°C. Other districts with relatively low minimum temperatures included Mysuru (14.3°C), Hassan and Kodagu (14.6°C each), Tumakuru (14.6°C), and Chamarajanagara (14.8°C).

Coastal Karnataka Warmer at Night

As expected, coastal districts remained comparatively warmer. Dakshina Kannada recorded a minimum temperature of 20.9°C, while Udupi reported the highest minimum in the state at 21.5°C, reflecting the moderating influence of the sea.

Bengaluru Weather Forecast

For Bengaluru, the IMD has forecast a partly cloudy sky, with fog or mist likely during early morning hours in some areas. Residents are advised to exercise caution during morning travel due to reduced visibility in fog-prone zones.

Overall, Karnataka is set to experience stable winter conditions, marked by dry weather, cool nights, and occasional fog, especially in interior districts, over the coming week.
